What do you do about interference from microwave ovens?
Consider the following countermeasures:
• Change access point channels. The microwave in use with this testing didnt severely degrade channels 1 through 6. As a result, avoid the use of these channels in areas of the building where microwave ovens operate. In fact, web browsing was very fast with the microwave running and the access point set to channel 1 and channel 6. Keep in mind, however, that your microwave ovens may operate at different frequencies within the 2.4GHz band. Check the label on the back of the microwave, which should provide the center operating frequency.
• Avoid using the WLAN near microwave ovens. Keep at least ten feet away from operating microwaves while actively using WLAN applications. This eliminates working from most company break rooms when the microwave is in use. The actual impacts would only be intermittent, though, when someone runs the microwave for a few minutes while heating up a burrito or cup of soup.
As you can see, microwave ovens wont completely bring down your WLAN. Just be aware of the situation, and of the applicable countermeasures.

There’s been a lot of talk about microwave ovens causing interference with wireless LANs. Take a look at what was found when testing Wi-Fi in their presence.
Radio frequency (RF) interference causes wireless clients and access points to hold off transmitting, which causes delay and lower throughput. This resulting decrease in performance can make browsing websites and downloading files sluggish. In cases where interfering signals are strong enough, the wireless clients may not be able to access the LAN at all for an indefinite period of time. This is rare, but possible.
As a result, you need to be aware of potential sources of RF interference, such as cordless phones, other WLANs — and microwave ovens. In this tutorial, well focus on interference that microwave ovens create. Most microwaves emit signals that fall within the same 2.4GHz frequency band that 802.11b WLANs utilize. It’s something to think about when deploying.

A common misconception is that as Wi-fi uses a small transmitter, such a low dose of radiation must be harmless. In fact, a classroom of computers could exceed the power from an ordinary mobile phone transmitter. As shown earlier there are now many studies showing illnesses from these transmitters, even confirmed by the WHO.
The above point was also made in the BBC Panorama Programme ‘Wi-Fi: a warning signal’, in which Sir William Stewart, the Chairman of the Health Protection Agency, warned that WHO advice on the issue was incorrect and called for an urgent review.
The programme can still be viewed online.xxviii
Children are particularly susceptible to microwaves because:
i. They have immature immune systems;
ii. They have soft bones (there is research to show that stem cells in the bone
marrow can absorb microwaves (Cherry 1998));
iii. They can act as aerials due to their size.
I believe the most important research I have read is from Dr. Goldsworthy (2007). Dr. Goldsworthy not only shows the mechanism by which microwaves disrupt cells but predicts that a genetically damaged sperm and egg can lead to mutant offspring maybe generations away. If you think of children with these transmitters near their laps, the question must be….. Why take this risk for the sake of a piece of wire and a plug?

I must stress that a legal expert be contacted concerning legal matters. I am not legally trained. Such an expert would be consultant Alan Mayer of Horsey Lightly Fynn (02072228844). Possibly the most misquoted safety level is the ICNIRP certificate. It actually recommends that care be taken for children and the sick, who may have a lower tolerance for microwaves. Also decision makers should review current scientific literature and determine an appropriate reduction factor of power. In other words decision makers should look at scientific research and set safety levels below what is known to cause illness. Are the School Governors doing this?xxii

MP’s have tried many times to advise parliament of cancer clusters around transmitters. In one case there were 11 children under the age of 11 with leukaemia.xxvi This is the 4th cluster to my knowledge. I wonder whether the Children’s Actxxvii could be used to prevent illnesses to children or keep Wi-fi from schools.

I have heard many times from planning inspectors, government spokes persons, school governors and appointed representatives that illnesses from microwave transmitters are usually based on anecdotal evidence from selective research causing anxiety and psychosomatic disorders.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
I suggest that these decision makers read the documents of the NRPB (04) which states…..”account should be taken not only of peer reviewed papers but also of non peer reviewed and anecdotal evidence.” Appendix H p. 101. NB. All studies start from anecdotal evidence, e.g. smoking, alcohol, asbestos, BSE and aids.
Similarly, according to the WHO 80% of their epidemiological data on microwave transmitters show illnesses ranging from microwave sickness to a fourfold increase in cancers. That is 8 out of 10 research papers ~ hardly selective. It is not difficult to find the sponsors of the remaining research papers which show this communications industry in good light.
My argument with evidence follows.
All these transmitters emit microwaves. I will look at general microwave problems first and then specific problems regarding Wi-fi.

Following a spate of illnesses in their surgeries, a group of doctors produced the FREIBURGER APPEAL. It is a warning to decision makers concerning illnesses from low level microwaves. It was singed by 36990 signatories of which approx 3000 were doctors, consultants and scientists. v
At this time:
• 47 cancer clusters were reported around schools in Spain; vi
• Approx. 138 clusters of cancers and other illnesses (miscarriages, brain, breast and teachers ill) were reported internationally; vii (Again schools)
• 165 die in Osafia; viii
• Scientists like Wolf and Wolf (2004) and Eger et al. (2004) carried out epidemiological studies around transmitters over many years. Their conclusion was a threefold increase of cancers within a 400 m radius of transmitters, for breast cancer a tenfold increase was found. ix
• D. Cornelia Waldmann-Selsam, the originator of a further doctors’ appeal, this time in the German city of Bamberg, wrote an open letter expressing her concern to the Prime Minister of Bavaria. x
• Hutter (2006) showed sleeping problems and cognitive performance decline for residents near transmitters; xi
• Other scientists such as Gandhi Gursatej, a group of Flemish paediatricians, Dr. HaJs from Germany and the Colorado State University warn of genetic damage and brain tumours from transmitters;xii
• The Nobel Prize winning Irish Doctors Association listed 70 research papers showing the dangers from low level microwaves. Dr. Santini listed 20 similar studies, the EM. Radiation Research Trust listed 9 studies, Dr. Blackwell listed 6 similar studies in his report and finally 4 international universities completed the Spanish Study which verified all of these known illnesses. The authors of the Spanish study (The Microwave Syndrome-Further Aspects of a Spanish Study 2004) recommended a level of radiation 100 million times below our maximum level. 10 million below ICNIRP. Dr. Gerd Oberfeld, one of the authors of the study, is the Director of the Public Health Office in Salzburg, Austria, which lowered its precautionary value for indoor exposures to GSM frequencies to comply with the recommendation made by the study. ; xiii
• Published in the Journal of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, Hallberg and Johansson studied a country before and after radio transmitters were introduced. (Cancer Trends during the 20th Century, 2002). They found increased cancers (breast, bladder, prostate, lung, colon). Their conclusion was that this was due to the introduction of FM radio frequencies. Both these professors also produced a report showing that they believed this radiation also contributed to skin cancer;xiv
• 2 very recent studies have shown that people underneath the transmitter (i.e. transmitter on the roof) suffer neurobehavioral problems (headache, memory changes, tremors, depression, sleep disturbance and neuropsychiatric problems). I mention this because children often sit underneath their transmitters, which can be on the wall of a classroom. Also problems can arise where damage occurs to the formation of the foetus; xv (Female teachers)
• Professor Cherry published a list of dose related illnesses; xvi
• Doctors Monnet, Ruz and Gautier published mechanisms showing how microwaves cause these illnesses;xvii
• Permanent low level microwave exposure induces chronic nitrosative and oxidative stress (Warnke 2005xviii). It is known that chronic nitrosative/oxidative stress damages the mitochondria, the “powerhouses” of each cell in the body.
Mitochondropathy is at the root of many of today’s chronic illnesses, such as MS, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Artherosclerosis and Obesity. (Kuklinsli 2004xix). Even more disturbingly, when chronic nitrosative and oxidative stress is present, irreversible mitochondrial DNA damage will occur sooner or later (see also Kuklinski 2004 and Kremer 2003).
The mitochondrial DNA is ten times more susceptible to nitrosative / oxidative stress than the DNA in the cell nucleus. Whilst regular cell DNA has in-built repair mechanisms, mitochondrial DNS is irreparable due to its low histone proteine content. The mitochondropathy is therefore irreversibly transmitted to the children by the maternal egg cell causing cumulative irreparable damage to future generations.
Electrical sensitivity has now been recognised by some countries. Sweden claims that above 3% of its population is sensitive to microwaves. The WHO acknowledges this condition and the most recent country to announce this is Canada. The significance of this condition for children is that approx. 3 % of the pupils and those working near transmitters may develop ES. xx
80% of the epidemiological studies on the WHO database show everything from sickness (microwave syndrome) to a fourfold increase in cancers from low level microwaves. I was curious to investigate the remaining 20% which showed no symptoms.
However this had already been looked at by Swiss scientists who said “the interpretation of results … should take sponsorship into account”. Michael Meacher Minister for the Environment 1997-2003 published a report blaming some universities for accepting lucrative contracts in favour of reporting favourable results from scientific research. In the same month US Congressman Henry Waxman published a similar report in Scientific American stating that science was being corrupted by industry.xxi

A study from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a panel of the World Health Organisation (WHO), which looked into has concluded that the RF produced by mobile phones is “possibly carcinogenic.” Importantly, the IARC working group, which included 31 scientists from 14 countries, did not conduct new research but reviewed available scientific literature on the topic. In an attempt to quantify this level of danger, the organisation has put handsets on a par with 240 other agents where the level of harm is uncertain. These include talcum powder, coffee, working in a drycleaners and, believe it or not, eating pickled vegetables.
Putting, for the moment, this farcical comparison to one side, worries over the harmful effects of handset radiation have been around for several decades and no investigation–regardless of how thorough–has provided conclusive evidence to support the case that mobile phone do, or do not, cause cancers.
The WHO is confident, however, when it comes to labelling alcohol, smoking and sunlight, among others, as being in Group 1–those agents proven to be associated with causing cancer in humans.
Then there is Group 2A which has “probable association, but limited evidence” of causing cancers, followed by Group 2B, which is where mobile phones are positioned with “possible association, but with limited evidence.”
The IARC has not helped dispel the many half-truths that cling to this debate by hedging its bets. The head of the IARC, Jonathan Samet, a scientist at the University of Southern California, said that some threads of evidence are telling the group how cancers might occur, but there are acknowledged gaps and uncertainties.
However, the IARC report stated that there was no clear mechanism for mobile phone RF to cause brain tumours, with the radiation from handsets being too weak to cause cancer by breaking DNA, leading scientists to suspect other, more indirect routes.
Needless to say, while this study seems not to have moved the scientific frontier on this topic any further forward, a sector of society has jumped on the key words “possibly carcinogenic” and demanded that governments and employers take immediate action.
This call to arms, not surprisingly, often recommends employing the services of these bandwagon-jumpers to fight for the rights of mobile phone users, or to protect firms from being sued by their handset-equipped workforce.
At a more objective level, mobile phones have been around for 25 years or more, with approximately 5 billion in use today. Surely, if there was a risk of these devices causing a health problem we would have seen clearer evidence by now–as against teams of expert researchers still struggling to identify the risk.
So, I’ll keep using my handset, and take the risk of eating pickled vegetables.

Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take “immediate steps” to reduce exposure to their radiation.
The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks.
It draws on growing evidence – exclusively reported in the IoS in October – that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long.
Earlier this year, the French government warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimise handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced.
Professor Khurana – a top neurosurgeon who has received 14 awards over the past 16 years, has published more than three dozen scientific papers – reviewed more than 100 studies on the effects of mobile phones. He has put the results on a brain surgery website, and a paper based on the research is currently being peer-reviewed for publication in a scientific journal.
He admits that mobiles can save lives in emergencies, but concludes that “there is a significant and increasing body of evidence for a link between mobile phone usage and certain brain tumours”. He believes this will be “definitively proven” in the next decade.
Noting that malignant brain tumours represent “a life-ending diagnosis”, he adds: “We are currently experiencing a reactively unchecked and dangerous situation.” He fears that “unless the industry and governments take immediate and decisive steps”, the incidence of malignant brain tumours and associated death rate will be observed to rise globally within a decade from now, by which time it may be far too late to intervene medically.
“It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking,” says Professor Khurana, who told the IoS his assessment is partly based on the fact that three billion people now use the phones worldwide, three times as many as smoke. Smoking kills some five million worldwide each year, and exposure to asbestos is responsible for as many deaths in Britain as road accidents.
Late last week, the Mobile Operators Association dismissed Khurana’s study as “a selective discussion of scientific literature by one individual”. It believes he “does not present a balanced analysis” of the published science, and “reaches opposite conclusions to the WHO and more than 30 other independent expert scientific reviews”.
An influential European committee known as the Council of Europe has ruled that cell phones and wireless internet connections pose a risk to human health and should subsequently be banned from schools. The committee concluded that immediate action was necessary to protect the children from the potential dangers, releasing a report that acts as a call to arms. The decision comes after mounting evidence has linked mobile phones, in addition to electromagnetic fields, to a number of harsh health ailments. With such a powerful group calling for bans on harmful electronics, it is highly possible that it will not only become law in the European Union, but across the globe as well.
In the committee’s report, parallels were drawn between mobile phones and previous items thought to be safe by the mainstream media community. The report warns against repeating mistakes that were made due to the slow medical recognition of toxic substances such as asbestos, tobacco smoking and lead in petrol. Studies, along with the backing of many experts, have generated evidence that cell phones may be the asbestos of the future — the sleeping toxic health giant.
Going beyond mobile phones, the report also highlighted the dangers of common household electronics such as cordless telephones and baby monitors. Both pieces of technology rely on similar technology and have become commonplace among citizens of the EU and abroad. The report also discusses the numerous studies conducted on the health consequences of such technologies.

Muscat also showed in another study that people using cell phones used six or more years of a 50 percent increase in the risk of developing acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor of the nerve, the hearing controls and extended have from the ear to the brain. Acoustic neuroma can cause hearing loss and can be life threatening if untreated.
This was in a separate study in Stockholm, Sweden, Anders Ahlbom confirmed in 2004 and sponsored by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the firm, have the people, the phones worked this time for at least 10 years, an increased risk of acoustic neuroma have
-. In a study by the WHO researcher Dr. Lennart Hardell of Orebro Medical Center requested line in Sweden, examined 1617 patients between 20 and 80 years who was diagnosed with a brain tumor was 1997-2000. They were then compared to healthy individuals. Those who used cell phones for less than 10 years faced a 20% higher risk of developing brain tumors. But for those who for more than a decade, the risk was 80% higher. The study also found that tumors were 2.5 times more likely to be on the same side of the head as the phone instead. The cancer of the auditory nerve, acoustic neuroma, showed a larger increase -. 3.5 times higher risk
Mobile Phone Radiation DOSAGE AND RESPONSE All studies mentioned
showed that an increase of mobile phone radiation also increases the likelihood of the adverse effect occurs.
In Repacholi study in mice, the risk of lymphoma increased significantly the longer the mice were exposed to radio waves.
epidemoiological In the research work of Tice, Hook, and Roti Roti, the risks of genetic damage caused by the formation of micronuclei increased as the amount of radiation measured increases
In the three studies. – Two out of Muscat and one by Hardell -. the risk of tumors was in the areas of the brain near where the phone was held
In Salford study, the higher the exposure level the rats were exposed, the more damage seen in the blood vessels in the brain and the nerve cells
THE BIG PICTURE The test tube studies by Tice CANCER and Hook />
According to Dr. Carlo, “The big picture is frighteningly clear. There is a clear risk that the radiation plume that emanates from a cell phone antenna to cancer and other health problems. There is a risk that hundreds of millions of people are concerned about lead around the world. There is a risk that must be seen and understood by all users who are mobile phones so that they can take all appropriate and available steps to protect themselves -. and especially for young children whose skulls are still growing and the most vulnerable to protect against the risks of radiation ”
more items COMING
- In 2000 a team of researchers Sydney a scientific hypothesis about how cell phone radiation causes cancer published. The report claims that the radiation generated by mobile phones causes chronic stress to the body cells, making them make “heat shock proteins (HSP). The human cells sometimes release these proteins in response to injury or infection. This chronic activation of the heat shock response affects the normal regulation of cells that can cause cancer
-. 2002 cell biologist Fiorenzo Marinelli and his team at the National Research Council in Bologna, Italy, leukemia cells similar to continuous radio waves from mobile phones. The exposed cells showed a higher rate of death than the controls at first, but after further exposure, something strange happened: instead of more cells die, the cells were exposed to angry replication compared to controls. Genes trigger the cells to multiply were turned on in a high percentage of the cells. The cancer, although was beaten shortly become more aggressive. Marinelli suspects that the radiation damage the DNA can first, and that this with the biochemical signals in a way that interferes with release of the cells eventually grow faster.
Why Phones for?
Now with all signs the mobile phone industry still maintains their position that cell phones are safe and have even begun marketing towards children. Governments were slow to warn people in boarding for no risk from using mobile phones. Fortunately, health authorities and experts in several European countries the first steps that issued public warnings to parents urging caution about kids and cell phones,
If the previous environmental issues will take with tobacco, asbestos and lead evidence, it will take years and decades to accumulate the amount of evidence that would make a final decision. In the case of smoking, it took two decades of study and the 100-year consumer use to meet enough data to research, gather to show the need for the U.S. Surgeon General’s warning on cigarette packs. Some experts say that come in the case of mobile phones, it will not take as long as data at a faster pace. But in the present the authorities can only urge people to exercise caution.
Replication of research is another problem. A study that comes with a new knowledge in general do not win immediate acceptance in the scientific community or the wireless industry unless another research laboratory was able to replicate the work and results. The industry has perpetuated their position in charge sent through the creation of an illusion follow-up by always calling for more research.
When Dr. Salford’s study, published in 2003 shows that rat brain neurons were dying from exposure to radiation, cell phone, he warned there could be similar effects in humans, which could over time lead to degenerative diseases of the brain. His study was related to the industry as “novel” that needs to be replicated written.
But achieving the scientific standard of replication can be complicated. Salford says if studies are not necessarily replicated and offers an apples to apples comparison, there is room to dispute follow-up results. Scientific research will require funding and the wireless industry, after Dr. Carlo revelations have been reluctant to put money into more comprehensive research. As with the government, again, many European governments are among the responsible course by funding research, but the U.S. and Canada are badly behind.
In 1999, CNN’s Larry King once again featured a man who filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against cell phone manufacturers. This time man, a Maryland neurologist, was himself diagnosed with brain cancer – again on the side of the head, where he is on his cell phone. The suit was dismissed again, however, and the man died not long after.
According to WHO report, 0.1 billion people from smoking in the 20 Century have died, and 10 times as many die in the 21st Century. No one is suggesting that mobile phones could be so many victims, but do we really wait, and where?
aims RESPONSIBLE TECHNOLOGY
Unlike tobacco, the mobile phone has become an indispensable part of our lives as television and computers. It has allowed us to communicate a gigantic leap in the way we were with each other and often do with saving the lives of the people credited in emergency situations. Cell phones are here to stay, and perhaps rightly so.
The question is not how to stop people from using this ubiquitous device, but how to secure it. The first step is always to admit there is a problem, hence the industry and the government have to the health risks to confirm with current technology. So we can can all find the right solutions, the more we enjoy the benefits of their use, can not our health and well-being.

It has become quite common to see people talking on their cell phones just about everywhere you go. And from all walks of life for mobile phone radiation hazard twittering. Recently cancer research experts concluded that surprising conclusion: Due to the use of mobile phone deaths will more than smoking victims. This is by far the most about mobile phone is harmful to health serious warning.
There are also scientists say, the release of the mobile phone radiation in just five minutes can enough to affect brain cells and the division of the situation. It may trigger cancer. Mobile phone radiation cannot be ignored; cell phone radiation to the human body will bring which harm!
Radiation and your mobile
Radiation is energy travelling through space in the form of waves or particles. It occurs naturally and has always been around. Direct brain warming after prolonged use, which disperses as soon as you stop using your phone and causes no harm; a recent study in Sweden suggested that acoustic neuronal are twice as common in mobile phone users than in those who do not use mobiles.
Increased cancer risk
As consumer concerns mount that prolonged mobile phone use could lead to problems ranging from headaches to tumors, a recent study showing an alarming rate of brain cancer in some cell phone users is helping swing scientific opinion in Britain.
Mobile phone radiation ‘may harm brain’
Mobile affiliate study by a French team is already believed to have lent further weight to the evidence, by showing that mobile phone radiation can promote leakage of the blood-brain barrier in rats. As a result, molecules that cause damage to neurons may be allowed to invade brain tissue.
Mobile may harm hearing
People using mobile phones for more than four years and longer than 30 minutes a day are at risk of developing hearing loss particularly at higher speech frequencies. . All we are saying that people should limit or curtail their usage and take measures like using ear phones.
Mobile Carrier Delays Harm Internet Security
Mobile security problems plague the entire software stack — the baseband, the kernel, the application frameworks, and the applications — and carriers continue to resist shipping regular and frequent updates.
