For those of you obsessed with your wireless technology, I need to ask–why are my children and I considered acceptable collateral damage so you can have your wireless convenience? Have you utterly lost your sense of humanity? Maybe you don’t feel any health effects (yet) from this technology, but many of us do–millions of us–and we are suffering. Do you not care? I want to know why you don’t care. I want to know why your wireless gadgets are worth more to you than my children’s health or my health or our lives. What in God’s name is so important about your texting that we have become inconsequential?

You wouldn’t force a child who is allergic to peanuts to live in a home filled with peanuts, would you? Would you force a peanut-allergic child to endure such a potentially deadly assault on their immune system? But Super WiFi, smart meters, WiFi, etc. are essentially doing just that to people like us who are sensitive. Perhaps you don’t acknowledge the problem because the radiation is invisible (you can at least SEE peanuts). Yet we are being bombarded by toxic radiation everywhere we go, whether we like it or not–and we have become inconsequential because you want what you want: your wireless convenience. I want to know why–even if you are seemingly unaffected by this technology–I want to know why you don’t care about those of us who ARE affected.

I want to know why you think it is okay for me to get severe migraines every time I have to go into a public place that uses WiFi. Nowadays, that means a debilitating migraine nearly every single day. I want to know why you think it is okay for my child to be drowning in his own mucus and struggling to breathe because his immune system goes berserk when he’s exposed to this radiation. I want to know why you think it is okay that my other child has profound memory loss, insomnia, and can’t think straight due to these frequencies. Or didn’t you know that pulsed microwave radiation (now classified as a Class 2B carcinogen) causes these symptoms??? Well now you know, and according to experts nearly 35% of the population (50% by 2017) is in the same boat as us with these or other symptoms (although most don’t even know what’s making them sick). I want to know why you are not speaking out on our behalf. Because now that you know, there is no excuse. You are, by your silence, saying it is okay for us to suffer. Please tell me how to explain to my children that you having wireless convenience is more important than their health or their lives. Please tell me as a mother how to cope with watching my children needlessly suffer. Try to put yourself in my shoes.

I don’t care if this technology is “popular” or if “everyone is using it”; this is not okay. It is not okay to say “well it’s not going away so you’ll just have to live with it.” Many of us who are sick from this radiation are now too ill to speak out. Many of us struggle just to find a safe place to live, shop, or go to school. We can’t even safely go to a doctor or a hospital without getting seriously ill because of WiFi exposure. There are electrosensitive people living in tents in the mountains and the deserts of our country because they can’t live anywhere else due to the amount of radiation in our communities.

I post info on this subject all the time. Some of you read it (thank you if you do), but I’m sure many of you don’t bother because you’re not affected (yet) or you haven’t figured out that your health problems are being caused by it. Or maybe you just don’t want to hear it because you love your wireless gadgets so much. But what about those of us who are fully aware this technology is making us sick? Do we not matter to you? Maybe it’s just easier for you to think we are imagining it. Well if you think you’re not affected, think again.

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of kids dying from leukemia, cancer, and brain tumors (are they perhaps sitting underneath a wireless access point at school? using a cell phone themselves? or just frying in Mom or Dad’s car while the parents use their cell phone?) Now, appallingly, I see parents giving their toddlers SmartPhones to keep them busy and help them “get through the day.” I am sick of cell towers going up outside schools and residential neighborhoods. I’m sick of Distributed Antenna System (DAS) units (the equivalent of a cell antenna) being installed on the telephone wires right outside people’s bedroom windows–and they don’t even know because the radiation is invisible.

I’m disgusted by the number of children being drugged for “ADHD” and “behavior problems” (how can they think or behave properly when bombarded by whole-body radiation from WiFi at school???) I’m sick of getting yet another phone call that my sister, my cousin, or my friend has breast cancer (oh that’s right, they have a wireless digital utility meter on their house, WiFi in their home/office, and/or they use a cell phone). I’m tired of hearing about my friends’ husbands dying from kidney and bladder cancer (can you say laptop???)

I want to know where all the bees have gone (they used to be EVERYWHERE when we were kids). I want to know how the hell we’re going to grow food if all the pollinators are dead! I’m tired of flocks of birds dropping dead out of the sky, and millions of bats (also pollinators) dying of mysterious fungal diseases (the immune system cannot function properly in the presence of these frequencies). If you think you’re not affected by all this, please think again.

Please care enough to acknowledge that this technology is essentially free license to commit genocide in slow motion against those of us who cannot tolerate these frequencies. And you or your child may be next if/when your body can’t tolerate it anymore either. So please have the moral fortitude and common human decency to do something about it, because those of us who are getting sick from it can’t do it alone anymore. We need your help. The problem has gotten too big and soon there will be no escaping it (see below–Super WiFi is on its way). If you are truly a human being, start acting like one. Please don’t accept what is happening to your fellow human beings. Please care about me and my kids and others like us. Please care about those who are being affected and don’t even realize it yet. Please do something about this.

It is not okay to essentially cripple and/or kill off an entire segment of the population for the sake of wireless convenience. We, as a species, should be better than that.

India’s development in the field of Science and Technology was substantial from British period. Telecommunication has become especially important in recent years because of the enormous growth of information technology and its potential impact on rest of the economy. The popularity of cell phones and wireless communication devices has resulted in a proliferation of cell towers across the city. The mobile phone towers crowding the city’s skyline are making the air toxic for you. Pregnant women and children are in greater danger from cell phone towers than the normal population. * There is non-thermal effect, which affects people who are at a distance from the tower. The ill-effects of a non-thermal effect are cell membrane permeability.

Why Property Owners Allow Cell Phone Towers?

Why such deadly Cell Phone Towers would be allowed to install in residential areas? The telecommunication companies or service providers pay rent for installation of towers. Letting building for cell phone towers is good source of income for property owners and institutions.

Cell phone companies pay “rent” for their placement that can range anywhere from Rs 10,000 to 30,000 per month or above Rs 30,000 where competition among service providers is high. Some Cell phone companies set up unauthorized towers which are also called “camouflage towers” which looks like Palm Tree, Water Tank, and Chimney, Street Light etc.

However, in Cities like Ahmedabad, Rajasthan, Jaipur, Punjab and Metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad High Court has banned installation of cell phone towers in residential areas. Meanwhile, the state government is also chalking out a policy to crack a whip on cell phone towers in the residential areas in the city.

What you can do?

* Don’t buy a home near one even if the price is right.
* Maximize your health through proper nutrition and good hydration.
* People who are living near mobile tower 400-500 metres should get their houses tested for radiation.
* Eat foods high in antioxidants and take supplements.
* Limit your use of wireless devices. Go back to ‘wired’ connections whenever possible.
* People can refuse to work or shop in environments that endanger their health. They can demand that wireless devices be removed from their children’s schools and from their work and entertainment places.
* Don’t let cell phone companies install cell phone antennas on the roofs of schools where your children attend.
An apartment owners Association or Resident Welfare Association (RWA) should ensure that service provider and property owner has got NOC from other occupants before installing Cell phone Tower
* If any citizen has apprehensions, he should seek an explanation from the company putting up the tower. If that remedy fails then they have a right to approach the court of law.

Petition filed by two senior citizens dwells on harmful and hazardous radiation from towers

Following a writ petition by two senior citizens citing increased incidence of cancer because of mobile towers, the Rajasthan High court, has issued notices to 13 mobile service providers, including Vodafone and Airtel, and seven government agencies.

The court in its order on March 2 asked each of the respondents to explain the petition’s claims of increasing instances of cancer because of mobile tower radiation and illegally erected mobile towers in the state. The 20 respondents have been given four weeks time to submit their replies.

The petitioners– retired Justice I S Israni and Nirmala Singh–have collected various news reports and studies to show the harmful effects of radiation. Through examples of illegally constructed towers in their own neighborhood they have attempted to question the larger issue of regulation and monitoring of these towers. In the plot next to Israni’s and Singh’s house in different localities of Jaipur mobile service providers have “illegally erected a mobile tower” says the petition. The one next to Singh’s house is owned by Bharti Infratel Ltd and she in November 2011 had requested the municipal authority and the urban development and housing department to take action against the company. But her notice was not even acknowledged by the government. The petition says the towers were installed without permission.

Citing right to life as a fundamental right, the petition filed on February 24, 2012, requested the court to take action against the service providers and the authorities concerned. The petition says that harmful and hazardous radiation from these towers have become a health and safety concern for all residents. They also cause noise pollution due to the power backup through generators.

Why cellphone towers are a health hazard?

Israni in the petition has compared cellphone tower radiation to smoking. The petition states, “Cellphone industry is becoming another cigarette industry, which keeps claiming that smoking is not harmful and now there are millions of people around the world who have suffered from smoking. In fact, cellphone tower radiation is worse than smoking as one cannot see it or smell it, and its effect on health is noted after a long period of exposure.”

The petition says exposure to mobile radiation leads to increased risk of cancer, human fatigue, impotency, cataract, sleep disturbance, dizziness, loss of memory, slow reflexes, headaches, tachycardia (heart palpitations) and ailments of the digestive system and kidneys. It is also harmful for the aged, pregnant women and children’s.

Currently, there are more than 40-50 crore cellphone users and nearly 4.4 lakh cellphone towers in India. “The number of cellphones and cell towers are increasing without considering its disadvantages,” says the petition. It adds, “All over the world, people have been debating about associated health risk of radiation from cellphones and cell towers. Radiation effects are divided into thermal and non-thermal effects. Thermal effects are similar to that of cooking in microwave oven. Non-thermal effects are not well defined but it has been reported they are 3 to 4 times more harmful than thermal effects.”

As per the studies cited in the petition, a cellphone transmits one to two watt of power in the frequency range of 824 – 849 MHz (CDMA), 890 – 915 MHz (GSM phones with a bandwidth of 900) and 1,710 – 1,780 MHz (GSM phones with a bandwidth of 1,800). A cellphone has a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) rating. In the US, SAR limit for cell phones is 1.6W/kg which is actually for 6 minutes per day usage. It has a safety margin of 3 to 4 (MHz), so a person should not use cell phone for more than 18 to 24 minutes per day. “This information is not commonly known to the people in India, so people use cell phones for more than an hour per day without realising its associated health hazards,” says the petition. Cell tower antennas transmit in the frequency range of 869 – 894 MHz (CDMA), 935 – 960 MHz (GSM 900) and 1,810–1,880 MHz (GSM1,800). Also, 3G connectivity is available in few cities, in which base station antenna transmits in the frequency range of 2,110 – 2,170 MHz.

Government, not so concerned

Prateek Kasliwal, advocate for the petitioners, says that the municipalities in Rajasthan had passed by-laws in 2010 to look into the installation of mobile towers in the state. “But these by-laws and other government notices are reduced to the issue of revenue generated by the installation of these towers and not its effects. No one is addressing the dangers of radiation.” He adds that the measurement apparatus used by service providers to determine radio frequency factor and electro-magnetic radiation is obsolete and outdated.

In December 2011, an inter-ministerial group had submitted nine recommendations to the state assembly to address radiation concerns. It suggested that service providers to install smaller towers, no towers be installed near hospitals or schools, a body be created to check radiation levels and provide the radiation details in the public domain. Kasliwal says no action has been taken on any of the recommendations. “The government doesn’t even have the equipment or training to carry out radiation tests. They ask the mobile companies to provide the technology and expertise and then publish the data that the mobile companies give them,” he adds.

We’ve all heard about it – mobile phones are harmful to health. There are several chain emails, Facebook and Twitter updates about it. We wanted to get to the bottom of it all. So we caught up with Neha Kumar an expert on the topic of mobile radiation and director, NESA, a firm which designs radiation measurement and shielding equipment. She has been studying about radiation from cell phones/towers for about three years and has interacted with experts, researchers, doctors and patients around the world who have been affected by prolonged exposure to cell phone/tower radiation.

Excerpts from the interview:
How exactly does mobile radiation cause health problems?
Mobile phones and towers emit electromagnetic radiation having health effects which can be divided into thermal and non-thermal. Thermal effects refer to heating effect which you observe if you hold the phone for long near your ear.
Non-thermal effects on the cells, genes and the DNA and are more harmful than thermal effects.
Excessive use of mobiles can lead to headache, sleep disturbance, lack of concentration, memory loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and increased risk of brain cancer.
Having mobile towers in your neighbourhood can also pose health problems like severe headache, sleep disturbance, constant body pain, memory problems, joint pains etc. The more severe health effects noted include infertility, miscarriage, neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc.), heart problems and cancer.

Are these mobile radiations more harmful for any particular demographic?
Children are more vulnerable due to a developing immune system and thinner skulls which allows radiation to penetrate deeper. Women run the risk of health problems like hormonal imbalances, miscarriages, breast and ovarian cancer as they tend to spend more time at home and are exposed continuously.

Is there any solid evidence to back the findings that these radiations are harmful to people?
There are several national and international studies where scientists have found a strong correlation between health problems and exposure to microwaves from mobile phones and mobile towers. Prof Girish Kumar from IIT Bombay had sent a report to Department of Telecommunications (DOT), India which has more than 200 references from peer reviewed publications in the end.

What precautions can you take to reduce your exposure to the radiation from mobile phones?
Some precautions that you can take:
Limit your use, talk for short durations and switch sides during long conversations. SMS/IM chat whenever possible.

Use the land-line, whenever possible
Use speakerphone or wired hands free, but keep the phone at least 1 feet away.
When not in use, keep the mobile phone away from your body as they still continue to emit some radiation while trying to communicate with the base station by sending at least one pulse per minute. Do not keep it in your pocket, under your pillow etc.
Use cell phones with lower Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values. One can find the SAR value of a phone by simply searching- SAR. The lower the SAR value, the less dangerous it is. Ideally go for a phone which has SAR value – 0.2 – 0.8 W/Kg

If towers are responsible is the Govt. doing anything about it? Are there any regulations that mobile companies have to follow?

Till 2009, the Indian government had not adopted any standards for safe exposure from mobile phone and mobile towers. In 2009, India adopted radiation norms specified by ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) guidelines of 1998. However, ICNIRP guideline is outdated as it is only intended to protect the public against short term gross heating effects and NOT against ‘biological’ effects such as cancer and genetic damage from long term exposure. Also these safety standards are based on 6 minutes per day exposure, without accounting for people who live close to cell towers 24/7.

In Jan 2011, the report by Inter-Ministerial Committee mentioned several health hazards at levels thousand to ten thousand times below the ICNIRP standards and made recommendations to reduce the exposure to 1/10th of what ICNIRP had earlier recommended. However, even that has not been implemented yet.

If someone lives near mobile towers, what can they do about it? How can they detect whether they are being harmed or not? Who can they complain to?

If someone lives close to a mobile tower:
One can request the operators to reduce the power transmission
Change the angle of the antenna so that no house falls in the main beam of the antenna, or Go for Shielding Solution

For detection, NESA has come up with a low cost, simple and easy to use Cell Tower Radiation Detector, DETEX 189 which is based on the health recommendation by Bioinitiative Group. It has an LED indicator as well as buzzer to find if one is living in a safe, caution or danger zone. Unfortunately, right now in India there is no e-mail id or authority where one can directly complain. However, one can try writing to TUG/DOT/TRAI.

Is there any active research/initiative taking place to counter these harmful effects? What alternatives do people have?

All over the world, people are going for fibre optic solution, low power transmitting antennas and in-building solutions and repeaters.Alternatively, areas where the radiation levels are high, people can go for radiation shielding solutions like – Window Shielding Film, Shielding Curtains, Radiation Shield units etc.

JAIPUR: A division bench of the high court issued a showcause notice to as many as 13 mobile companies besides central and state authorities on the issue of health hazards being caused by high frequency radiations emitted by mobile towers posing serious threat to public health and safety.

The court order came on a PIL filed by a retired Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, Jusitce I S Israni and others. Counsel for Israni, Prateek Kasliwal told a division bench of Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice N K Jain (senior), “”The mobile towers are having no fixed criterion of emission of radiations and there were nine major directions given by the inter-ministerial committee in recent past but the same are also not being followed. It was directed that all the towers will have a display of the emission strength of the radiations. Permission should be sought before putting a mobile tower near school, in residential colony, and public places but the same were also not followed.”"

It was also contended that the radiations of mobile towers act like microwave rays and cook the brain as well as body cells resulting in brain, skin and other cancers, while also causing other congenital problems in infants and young children. The petitioners also brought it to the notice of the court that the central government passed certain rules to put a check on the irregular radiation emissions from these mobile towers but on March 23, 2011 a ban was placed by local bodies on taking any coercive action against the mobile companies.

The petitioner also highlighted radiation norms being adopted in various countries and stressed on studies and illeffects of the radiation emissions from mobile towers on animals, plants and human beings. Looking at the gravity and the potent of threat to the human and animal lives the division bench has directed state and Central authorities to file a response to the writ petition within a period of four weeks.

Petitioner Justice Israni also brought to the notice of the court that a legal notice was duly served upon the state and the Central authorities but no action was taken by them forcing him to approach the court.

There are various people that say that cellular phones create a considerable amount of radiations and that these can have terrible impact on the human body. Most of the current cell phone deals come and say that there are no perils relating to radiation when using them. Let’s find what are the main results of radiations from cell phones.

The cellphone towers are not the only problems. Mobile phones also emit some radiation that can be damaging. Most of the noted problems are linked to the fact that individuals who keep their phones into pockets cannot procreate. This is a huge issue since it could lead to a world wide problem. Imagine that fewer and fewer people would be able to have children. This would be a disaster.

To counteract these statements major mobile phone producers come and say that they are trying to decrease the emissions of radiations. It is genuine that most of the newest cell phone deals available emit less radiation than the mobile phones launched 10 years ago.

The future will establish if the radiations from cellular phones are real or not. In the present people argue and no one has a concluding answer to the problem of radiation. As soon as new technologies will be accessible, we will begin to find out the truth.

In reality, researchers don’t even understand how radiations work and what are the main perils which they present. We can only speculate what the real effects of radiations are.

All we can do is to wait and to see concluding results from the research projects that are going on right now. Companies will always state that cellular phones are secure and that we should keep purchasing them. It is time for the authorities to step in and to fix this problem forever.

The future will establish if the radiations from mobile phones are real or not. In the present individuals argue and no one has a concluding answer to the problem of radiation. As soon as new technologies will be available, we will start to find out the truth. In reality, scientists don’t even understand how radiations work and what are the main perils which they present. We can only speculate what the real effects of radiations are.

All you can do is to wait and to see concluding results from the research projects that are going on today. Companies will always state that phones are safe and that we should keep utilizing them. It is time for the authorities to step in and to resolve this problem for good.

Cells phones are one of the most utilized, most convenient inventions of the twentieth century. While there are definite advantages to using cell phones, e.g., being in contact with loved ones at all times, as with any convenience or luxury there are usually some downfalls or consequences. With cell phones the consequences can be detrimental and therefore, should not be dismissed lightly.

Cell phones are a source of electromagnetic fields, radiation which creates change in anything it comes into contact with. EMFs emanate from mobile phones and because of how phones are used, these EMFs come into direct contact with the brain.
More than a dozen studies have linked using a cell phone for a long period of time — ten years or more — with a higher incidence of brain tumors and acoustic neuromas. These critical diagnoses are even more common when phones aren’t switched from one side of the head to the other when engaged in conversation.

Other adverse health effects include:
• Evidence of leukemia, breast cancer and other cancers.
• Neurological concerns and changes in the nervous system.
• A much higher risk of salivary gland tumors.

A study from the Medical University of Graz in Austria showed that cell phone use negatively affects sperm quality in men. A similar study from 2009 examined men in the height of their reproductive years and found infertility and the ability to father a healthy baby were compromised by cell phone usage.

Cells phones are also a source of perfluorooctanoic acid, a harmful chemical which has been linked to heart disease, cancer and female reproductive/developmental damage.

Cell phones are not the only problem. Cell phone towers, as well as other wireless devices, are responsible for contributing non-ionizing radio frequencies into the environment. Both the World Health Organization and the International Association for Research on Cancer have classified the electromagnetic fields emitted by cell phones as a 2B, possible carcinogen. The towers and the phones themselves are constantly emitting microwave radiation. Even when cell phones are not in use they are putting out EMFs.

There have been many studies on the effects of microwave frequencies from cell phones on the brain. Many studies seem to be mysteriously inconclusive, while others show a clear pattern of evidence suggesting that there are health problems, especially some research studies show Swiss risks of brain cancer and tumors – obviously, this is not good. Is there a way to counter the cause and effect? Well, it might be, so let me explain a couple of my theories on the subject.

First, we might be able to cancel the frequency waves to cell phone towers by the doubling-up similar frequencies, and this might actually help human health, and I think scientists can be able to understand such a system one day – national health techniques of frequency delivered to your body by communication frequencies room all around us every day.

Secondly, I noticed a very interesting article the other day on Kurzweil “”Accelerating Intelligence”" new line entitled, “”Photoacoustic device found cancer cells before they become tumors”", posted January 9, 2012 by editor. The article stated;

“”University of Missouri researchers are one step closer to the detection of melanoma cancer at the cellular level, long before tumors have a chance to form -”" Using a small blood sample, our device and method provide earlier diagnosis for cancers of aggressive melanoma “”and”" We compare the detection method of watching an eight-lane highway full of white compact car. In our tests, the cancer cells look like a black 18-wheeler. “”

Okay, now hang with me as I describe my idea. You see, rather than allowing unwanted waves to cause cancer, perhaps we can understand using wave communication detect it, or maybe we can use the smart camera phones as digital micro-cameras range that can send information to a central cloud data to scan the blood sample and whether something like the analogy of the “”Black 18-Wheeler”" on this road?

What I am saying is that I am pro-cell communication, as long as we talk about things at the cellular level, perhaps we can identify the virus, diseases, abnormalities, and cancer then stop at the roadblock near protect human biosystem. It would certainly save on hospital costs, and I bet the health insurance companies, and the federal government would like. We taxpayers could be quite satisfied with the results as well. Okay so, this is my thought for the day – what’s yours? Please consider all this and think about it.

A bill requiring all cellphones sold in Israel to bear a health-hazard warning label passed its first of three readings into law on Wednesday.

The bill, sponsored by MK Dov Khenin of Hadash and Yulia Shamalov Berkovich of Kadima, won blanket approval in parliament. It also requires all advertisements of mobile phones to bear the warning.

Although the jury is out on the science, some suspect that heavy cellphone use may cause cancers, particularly in children. Youngsters can be more vulnerable to carcinogens because of their faster rate of cellular division.

The labels will read “”Warning – the Health Ministry cautions that heavy use and carrying the device next to the body may increase the risk of cancer, especially among children.”"

Nor is that all: Similarly to cigarettes, all advertising targeting minors would be banned under the law, and breaking the law would be a criminal offense.

“”The bill that passed today is a breakthrough in expanding public awareness of the possible risks in using cellular phones,”" Khenin said yesterday after the vote. Given the “”worrying results”" of a number of Israeli and international studies, he said, it is incumbent on the government to bring the possible risks to the public’s awareness. People need to be more careful in their use of cellphones, he said, and especially, they must protect children.

The Forum of Cellular Companies responded that they adhere to all the safety directives handed down by the Health Ministry and Environmental Protection Ministry. “”Beyond that, we believe that new initiatives and recommendations in the areas of public health and safety should be handed down by the professionals in these areas, based on the scientific knowhow in Israel and the world.”"
