As I reported earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO)
has observed that there is no increased cancer risk for cell
phone users. But the new evidence makes the WHO announced
that mobile phone radiation should not be ignored because it
can be caused brain cancer.
But the announcement this time, the WHO said could not rule
out that risk because there has been little research on
effects of long-term cell phone use.
Recent research reveals mobile phone radiation can cause
brain cancer risk. Mobile phone radiation with carcinogenic
substances categorized as dangerous as lead, smoke exhaust,
and chloroform.
This was announced by World Health Organization, World
Health Organization (WHO), as quoted by CNN and the BBC on
Wednesday (06/01/2011).
WHO mentions the possibility of brain cancer risk for cell
phone users who do not use mobile phones and almost the same
magnitude. So that WHO can only remind the risk for mobile
phone users more wise to use his cell phone.
Research conducted by a team of 31 scientists from 14
countries, including the United States. The decision was
made after more in-depth review about the safety of using
mobile phones. The team found sufficient evidence to
categorize as a type of cell phone radiation harmful
substance to humans.
The team found evidence of increased risk of glioma brain
cancer and increased acoustic neuroma for mobile phone
users. But can not draw conclusions for other types of
cancers.
This finding is somewhat contrary to previous research
results are also conducted by the WHO. In 2010, WHO released
the results of observations during 10 years showed that
there was no increased risk of brain cancer in particular
glioma and meningioma.
In a study involving 13,000 mobile phone users in 13
countries, the duration of the use of mobile phones ranges
from 2 to 2.5 hours / month. While the maximum duration is
1640 hours in the next 10 years, or an average of 1.5 hours
/ day.
Today the European Environment Agency has been pushing for
further study. This independent body to reveal the phone can
pose a risk as great as smoking, asbestos and leaded
gasoline.
Related to the latest findings about the dangers of cell
phone radiation, the head of a prominent cancer research
institute at the University of Pittsburgh sent a memo to all
employees urging them to limit cell phone use because of
possible cancer risks.
